Season 1 of Love Alarm premiered on Netflix on the 22nd of August 2019, it was ranked as one of Netflix's top releases and was renewed for a 2nd season in October 2019.
The first script reading for season 2 took place on the 21st of February 2020, almost a year later on the 14th of February 2021, Netflix announced the 2nd season would be released on the 12th of March 2021.

I love the fact that they kept the soundtrack the same for the 2nd season.

Love Alarm revolves around the story of a disruptive technology, that enables users to discover love through an application that notifies whether someone within the vicinity of a 10-meter radius has romantic feelings for them.
Longing for resounding proof of her feelings, Kim Jo Jo sets out to uninstall the shield and make the app ring for her one true love.
Love Alarm 2 Trailer

I saw there was a lot of mixed reviews for the 2nd season of Love Alarm, mainly because Jo Jo didn't end up with who they wanted her to end up with, even when it was following the webtoon. I on the other hand loved it, I binged watched it all on release day, and I was left feeling a little heartbroken that it was now finished.
The cast again were amazing yet again, we got to see different sides to them this season, and for me opinions changed. I think season 2 is all about change, closure, acceptance and choices, I have a week off soon, so may even sit and binge watch both season all over again.
Yet again Kim So Hyun brought Kim Jo Jo to life, I really felt she was in her characters shoes and helped the viewer to feel exactly the way she felt, this is definitely my favourite roll of hers. Jo Jo's main growth this season is learning to forgive and accept herself, as well as deciding whether she listens to the Love Alarm app, or listens to her own heart and feelings.
Through season 2, I was totally on team Lee Hye Young, there was something about Jung Ga Ram that helped you fall in love with him, not only as an actor but also his character. We got to see more of a vulnerability to Hye Young this time and got to peek more into his past with his father, and how his mother said he was just like him. We also get to see his fight or flight mode, he finally realises he's who he is and is willing to fight back for what he loves and wants, even when it's against his best friend Sun Oh.
I made so many Sweet Home jokes because of Hwang Sun Oh being depressed a majority of this season, I won't deny that while I adored his character in season 1 and wanted Jo Jo to end up with him, my opinion changed in season 2. While I may have applauded when Hye Young punched him, I could understand why he was acting the way he was. Jo Jo left him in the lurch when she ended their relationship, the main thing he needed was closure, he needed to hear the reason it all came to an end, but because he hadn't he didn't seem to care who he hurt, even if it was someone close to him.
Back in season 1, I really disliked Go Min Si's character Park Gul Mi, she was selfish and treated Jo Jo like crap, this season why she was still the same way, in that she wants to be the best and will do anything to get it, but we see a more vulnerable side to her, she also seems to care a bit more towards Jo Jo, this time round she made me laugh rather than mad.
My heart broke for Kim Si Eun as Lee Yuk Jo this season, you could tell she was totally in love with Sun Oh but he was stringing her along because he couldn't move past his feelings for Jo Jo, she even moves away for work for a while to try and get over him, only to come back to a little surprise.
This season we were introduced to Ki Do Hoon as Brian Cheon, the Love Alarms "developer", as the series moves along and concludes we find out more about his past and how he seems to know Duk Gu and came into possession of the Love Alarm app.
I'm so glad we got to see Lee Jae Eung as Cheong Duk Gu, he's always helping Jo Jo from the side lines, and helping her to understand her own heart, my predictions for him with Gul Mi were also correct, I think even though she's still not attracted to him, you can see she is thankful towards him and I personally could see a friendship forming between the 2 of them.

I not only recommend the 2nd season of Love Alarm, but I highly recommend the whole Love Alarm series, from start to finish it kept me on my toes and kept me hooked.
The cast really pulled off an amazing series, you believed every word they said and did, everyone involved in the show should be applauded it was spot on.
I would love there to be a 3rd season, but I think, for me, it ended perfectly, there wasn't any incomplete storylines.

On the 5th of January 2017, Netflix announced that it would be producing it's first original South Korean television series, with a released planned for 2018. However the premiere was eventually delayed and pushed back to August 2019.
The male lead role was initially offered to Ahn Hyo Seop, but he later declined the offer.
To promote the series, Love Alarm held an interactive experience zone from the 18th of August until the 1st of September 2019 at the Lotte World Tower World Park Square. A Love Alarm app was also released for promotional events, it looks like the one in the series, but works differently.

Check out the official trailer for Love Alarm from Netflix.

As expected there are songs within the drama that I love and that when I listen to them take me back into the moments of the drama.

Let me start off by saying I hope we get an announcement soon confirming that there will be a second season because I was definitely unimpressed with the cliffhanger, and by unimpressed I don't mean I was unhappy, I was in complete shock to how they left it. My reaction to that final moment was definitely a meme moment.

I'm unfamiliar with the webtoon, but when I saw that this was a Netflix original, I thought I'd give it a try as I am familiar with Kim So Hyun. I really enjoyed watching this drama, I think the script and cast was spot on, as much as I love Ahn Hyo Seop and would have watched it for him alone, I'm glad he turned it down. In my personal opinion the episodes didn't seem long enough, I was that enthralled that I didn't feel like the episodes were just short of an hour. There were moments when I thought double standards, for example the fact that Sun Oh gets mad with Hye Yeong because he finally starts accepting his feelings for Jo Jo and pursues her, although while knowing Hye Yeong had feelings for her, Sun Oh still pursued her himself. But other than that I would happily watch this drama again and again.
I thought Kim So Hyun did amazing as Kim Jo Jo, she brought her individuality to the role as well as showing amazing qualities when it came to showing her vulnerable side, I honestly don't think anyone could have played that role better than her.
I love both Song Kang and Jung Go Ram as Hwang Sun Oh and Lee Hye Yeong, this is my first time watching them both in a drama and I'm glad they were cast in this drama. They pulled off their roles really well and I can honestly say that I am stuck on who I want Jo Jo to eventually end up with. I think Sun Oh is strong and independent and Jo Jo brings out his vulnerable side whereas with Hye Yeong, he's more reserved and she seems to bring out his desire to fight for what he loves and his independence.
I was shocked to see that Kim Jang Go was played by Z.Hera as the last drama I watcher her in was Moorim School so I wasn't used to her having dark hair, plus glasses really suit her. While I wanted Jo Jo and Jang Go to make up, in a way I'm glad they didn't, I think Jang Go is that type of friend that you don't need in your life, it seemed to me that on the outside she played the best friend while on the inside she wanted to find that moment that would be Jo Jo's come down all because she's in love with her friend Il Sik who we see Jo Jo dating at the start of the series, I really disliked her character which shows that Z.Hera did her job well.
Another character I really disliked was Park Gul Mi played by Go Min Si, I feel because she thinks she's pretty and popular that she deserves everything handed to her on a plate and gets nasty when she doesn't get what she wants or come across unwanted affection. I also hate how nasty and cruel she is towards Jo Jo, who as family you would think she would try and help her instead of bringing her down, like Jo Jo does with her. I like that we get to see her armour finally begin to break and see a softer side to her, again this shows that Go Min Si did an amazing job in her role.
Finally I want to talk about Lee Jae Eung as Cheong Duk Gu, I love the unlikely friendship between himself and Jo Jo and I hope if there is a second season we get to see him again with more confidence and I hope he reappears to show Gul Mi just how much of a good person he actually is. It's hinted that he is the creator of the Love Alarm app and I also think he's the viewer that sees Gul Mi break and show her softer side during a live stream.
One main common with all the cast I have is that, I believe each and everyone of them, I can't wait to see how the series will progress and how the cast and characters will grow throughout the series.

If your a lover of Korean drama's then I would really recommend Love Alarm, the drama may revolve around an app but there is more to the story, including hidden heartbreak, and an extraordinary cliffhanger.

Have you checked out Love Alarm?
Did you like the casting and plot?
Would you watch it again and recommend to others?

It's time for another South Korean drama, and this time it's a drama I watched a while ago called Nightmare Teacher.
Nightmare Teacher is a South Korean supernatural web drama series, it's alternative name was Nightmare High. The series is a Viki Original and aired through Naver TV Cast airing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, airing from the 14th of March 2016 until the 31st of March 2016. The series ran for 12 episodes with each episode lasting just 15 minutes.

*If there is only 1 picture of a cast member, it's because I couldn't find a screen grab of them in the series*

Main Cast:
Kim So Hyun as Kang Ye Rim

Lee Minhyuk as Seo Sang Woo

What would you do if you realised that there is something not quite right with your school?
Kang Ye Rim is the president of her class and the top student. The seemingly perfect student becomes concerned, however, when she begins to feel that something strange is going on with her teacher Han Bong Goo, and the other kids in her class, including her friend, Seo Sang Woo. Everyone around Ye Rim seems to fall into a trance, and then her classmates' dreams seem to become reality as soon as they dream it. Can Ye Rim uncover the reasons for these strange occurrences before it's too late.

I binge watched this series in one night, because I was intrigued to see how it concluded. I liked how the series kept me in suspense and I was in no way expecting it to end the way it did. While I was shocked by how the series concluded I was also a little confused, meaning I had surf the Internet to make sense of all that had happened. Nightmare High was my introduction to Lee Minhyuk and really the rest of the cast. I did finish the series feeling a little deflated as everything seemed to be brushed away under the rug and there wasn't any real explanation into what was going on and what had happened. I'd happily watch it again to see if my opinions change, but I can't really say it's a series that I would hype up to people to make them give it a go. It's now on Netflix so I may give it another try at my own pace and try and look into the series' messages that they try to tell.

Have you watched Nightmare High?
What did you think?
