Today's song has been used on this day for the past 7 years. If you've been following this countdown for the past 7 years then you'll know what today means.
Today marks 7 years since Jonghyun's passing and there are still certain songs and performances that I can't watch. It may sound silly too but it really doesn't feel like it's been this long.
Today's song has been used for today for the past 6 years. Today marks 6 years since Jonghyun's passing. Every time it comes back around, I can't believe it's been another year.
While it's a day that's full of sad memories, I want it to become a day that we celebrate his life rather than his passing.
Today's song isn't really classed as a Christmas song, and today is the 5th year that this song has been used, and for the simple fact that, even though for SHAWOL and the rest of SHINee and his family and friends, this day has sad memories, I want to use it as a day to help keep his memory alive. I will forever use this track on this day in Jonghyun's memory.
Today's song, for as long as I will be doing this countdown will always be on this date.
While today is the 4-year anniversary, I don't want this day to continue to be a day of mourning, instead I want it to be a day to celebrate his life, which is why I now have a SHINee & JongHyun day on the 18th.
I will always use this song for the 18th as today is the anniversary of the passing of SHINee member and inspirational Poet/Artist Jonghyun. It's been 3 years now since his passingand it's still seems and feels like it was yesterday that I was seeing the heart breaking news. I still find some songs difficult to listen to, whenever I listen to his or SHINee's albums, it takes me away from everything, for a short while he's still here, but I also get that gutting feeling of we'll never hear his voice in future releases and that he's really gone.
People may think it's odd that 3 years later I still struggle with his passing, but he helped me in ways I, myself didn't realise.
While for many today is a sad day, I will always use this song to remind us all that everything in this song is all that we see with SHINee as a whole and as individual members. I'm sure Jonghyun is watching over his family and his SHINee brothers and is insanely proud of each one of them.
December 18th: Back on Christmas Eve in 2015 Girls Generation were in Saitama, Japan filming their Phantasia in Japan show, their Phantasia tour was their first tour without Jessica so when this song was playing in the background of Christmas footage at the end of their show, I couldn't help but get a bit teary. Since Jessica parted ways with the group a lot of past songs that contain her vocals had either been remixed, made into a ballad or re-recorded to change vocals to another member but I'm thankful towards both SM Entertainment and Girls Generation that this song had not been touched and her vocals were still a part of this song. Today's song is Girls Generation's Diamond.
We're revisiting Girls Generation with today's post, this time from the SMTown Winter Album, it's another of those tracks that I always play at Christmas. It was recently used in the background of a VT on their last tour Phantasia, I was glad that they hadn't removed or redone Jessica's part for the VT.
I was too tired and busy yesterday to post yesterdays song so today you get two windows opened.
December 18th
First up is one of those Christmas songs that has been getting played for the past 42 years and it never gets old, it truly is a song that when it comes on you know it's Christmas.
'Oh, I wish it could be Christmas, everyday let the bells ring out for Christmas'

This song I believe wasn't orginaly released to be a Christmas song it was an anti-war song but because of the line wish I was at home for Christmas and the brass band arrangements made it appropriate to play at that time of the year and 35 years later is still played at Christmas time making it one of those Christmas classics.
