It's time for me to introduce you to a girl group called Brown Eyed Girls, back in 2015, I introduced you to member Gain when I posted about her album Talk About S. Brown Eyed Girls are a 4-member South Korean girl group, they made their debut in 2006 under Nega Network, but are now with Mystic Entertainment.
The members are:

SOUND-G is their 3rd fill length album, back in 2009, many girl groups were making debut and making comebacks with a cute concept, which made Brown Eyed Girls think that having a cute and innocent concept would work against them. According to a Nega Network representative, "the girls would be going through a radical 180 image transformation, making them more outgoing girls. The group would be transforming themselves with a city girls concept in mind, more mature and sexy."
Track Candy Man was the first song from the album to be unveiled, with it being released on the 8th of July 2009.
Owned by Nega Network
On the 20th of July 2009, their lead single Abracadabra was released, and the very next day on the 21st of July 2009, their 3rd full length album SOUND-G was released digitally and physically. Not long after a performance version of the M/V was released.
Owned by Nega Network
The M/V for Abracadabra sparked controversies as the group sported a substantially more provocative visual style, with criticisms arising for the suggestive and erotic themes that the video presented. But even with the controversies the track was hugely successful for the girls. By the end of 2009 the song was downloaded 3,095,468 million times, becoming one of the best-selling singles in that year. Then in December 2011 it was reported that the song was actually one of the biggest hits in the history of South Korean music.
They later released a repackaged version of the album as well as making their Japanese debut with the same album.

Abracadabra won Brown Eyed Girls 5 music show trophies; with 1 win through Music Bank, 2 wins through Inkigayo and 2 wins through M Countdown.

Member Miryo wrote her own raps for 8 of the tracks on the album which were; Glam Girl, Abracadabra, 중독 (Addiction), Candy Man, Moon Night, 이상한 일 (Strange Days), 못 가 (Can't Go) and 여자가 있어도 (Even If You Have Another One).
Member JeA wrote and composed her solo track on the album titled 잘할게요 (It'll Do Well).

SOUND-G peaked at No.3 on the Gaon Albums Chart and No.54 on the Oricon Albums Chart.
Gaon Sales:
92,367+
Oricon Sales:
4,563+
Giving the album a total sales of 96,930+ copies sold.
*YouTube views correct at time of writing post*
The M/V for Abracadabra has so far gained 33,585,753 million views, with the views still continuing to increase on a daily basis.

SOUND-G is set out in a fold out case containing 2 Cd's and a DVD, all together in a slipcase. The album comes with a booklet and Chinese lyric book. Cd 1 contains the SOUND-G album, Cd 2 contains 7 remix tracks of their previous releases and the DVD has both the M/V and performance M/V of Abracadabra as well as song teasers.

Track List:
Glam Girl
Abracadabra
중독 (Addiction)
Candy Man
Moody Night
이상한 일 (Strange Days)
못 가 (Can't Go)
여자가 있어도 (Even If You Have Another One)
잘할게요 (I'll Do Well) JeA Solo

Candy Man (Inst)

I remember when I first listened to this album, I was left feeling a little underwhelmed, but I think that was because it was a sound I wasn't really familiar with, at the time the only K-pop girl group that I listened to was Girls Generation. For the first time in quite a while, I listened to the album again and was blown away by each track and their vocals and was in love with tracks I wasn't on my first listen. I have the Hong Kong version release of the album so I got a bonus DVD that has the M/V's for Abracadabra as well as teaser videos for some of their other songs. I think the concept of city girls really comes through in their album cover as well as photo book, while I'm not 100% with the styling, Brown Eyed Girls are good enough to really pull off the looks. I think SOUND-G is an album that will stand the test of time and never really age, I also think the same with Abracadabra. I think from this release their return to the music scene is always something that K-pop fans look forward to. Their voices really blend together to make beautiful harmonies in this album and they all get their chance to shine vocally, without any one member being forced into the spotlight to look better than the others.

Glam Girl

Abracadabra

중독 (Addiction)

Candy Man

Moody Night

이상한 일 (Strange Days)

못 가 (Can't Go)

여자가 있어도 (Even If You Have Another One)

잘할게요 (I'll Do Better)

For me Brown Eyed Girls, still remain to be the only girl group that for me can pull off a sultry and sexy concept and all love pretty hot doing it. They even have voices that can melt anyone down. It's been so long that they've had a comeback, they're last comeback was was nearly 3 years ago, members have insisted that they are still together as a group but just focusing on individual projects. Fingers crossed we get a comeback some time in the future.

Are you a fan of Brown Eyed Girls?
Who is your bias?
When did you become a fan?

See you soon!

Gain - Talk About S

Hello
An nyoung
Konnichiwa
Ni hao

It's Monday which can only mean we've started a new blogging week and it's K-pop Monday, my weekdays seem to go by so fast now that I have set blogging days. This week is Gain's mini album Talk About S.

Gain (Ga-in) is a member of a 4 member girl-group called Brown Eyed Girls, she came to my attention in 2013 when she appeared in Psy's second UK single Gentleman MV, after his first MV intrigued me to know who the cameo was I knew this second MV was the same and she would be in the music industry. Even one of Psy's moves was a Brown Eyed Girls move titled the arrogant dance. Check them out.

Gain tends to hit subjects and push boundaries that other artists would think was too risqué, especially to me in the K-pop world, which brings me to this mini album.
Released 2012 Talk About S is her most successful solo release along with the mini albums lead single being her most successful to date and to be honest I'm not surprised why this is one of favourite releases of hers. Talk About S is also her second solo release. In an interview Gain stated that "S could be referred to Sex, Sexual or even Secret, therefore S is a combination of those interpretations as it is the start point for so many other words".
Bloom the lead single is a story of an innocent girl that meets a man, falls in love and is brought into a world she has never witnessed in which he releases her sexual desires in turn making her Bloom from innocent girl to seductive woman. The MV got mixed reviews with some saying she had gone too far with it's content but after my initial surprise from the MV I saw it to be tasteful and for a subject that can be taboo for women rather empowering and in all honest to me and I'm sure others will agree that even if your not a fan of her music Gain has the power to pull in the viewer. She can make anything seem sexy with just her voice and moves she may not have the most strongest vocals in k-pop but she definitely has the most seductive vocals.

Tracklist:
팅키벌
(Tinkerbell)
그녀를
(Tiredness/Meet Her)
피어니
(Bloom)
시선
(The Gaze)
Catch me if you can

The images used for this mini album are as seductive as the songs themselves and the layout of the album is done well, it's all in a strong cardboard case that folds out to reveal the CD  and a short booklet with both lyrics and pictures, when I first got this album I spent most of my time looking at the pictures as they are just breathtaking and prove it doesn't have to be trashy to be sexy and seductive.

Back of album

There's not a song I dislike on this album but my ultimate favourite is Bloom, take a listen to the songs:
팅커벌 - Tinkerbell

그녀를 - Tiredness/Meet Her

피어니 - Bloom

시선 - The Gaze

Catch me if you can

Gain hypnotised me from the instant I saw her in Psy's MV and to me she is one of the sexiest women in k-pop, just stare into her eyes and tell me she doesn't impress you because to me thats difficult, there's other western idols that do what she does and make it seem trashy but she grabs it with both hands and makes you feel good to be a woman in this world.
See you soon!
