Fangirl Monthly: February Box

You may have noticed that I've not posted about Fangirl Monthly since our October box, well that's because the months between October and February, the box' have either been series' that I don't watch or that I'm not familiar with. 

February's box however, I squealed with delight when I saw what series was in the spotlight, Ouran High School Host Club!

Ouran High School Host Club is one of my favourite series', even Skye is a fan. The series follows Haruhi Fujioka, who is a scholarship student at Ouran High School, and is forced to join the host club when she accidentally knocks over and breaks a vase that's valued over $80,000. On first encounter because of her short hair and slouchy clothes the 6 male hosts of the host club mistake Haruhu for a boy, until they later realise she is a girl but because she is a natural at entertaining their female clientele both she and the rest of the hosts decide to keep her gender a secret from their members as she tries to repay her debt. Throughout the series close friendships and relationships are formed by the characters, but if you haven't either read the manga or seen the anime then I suggest you check it out to see how everything ends.

Shall we check out the goodies from the box?

First up we have an EXCLUSIVE OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB POSTCARD PRINT, this is Fangirl Monthly's expectant item and also keeping up appearances is Mayu Matsumoto, who creates the artwork for these postcards. I love the colours used for this postcard and I love that it includes all our host club hosts; Haruhi, Tamaki, Kyoya, twins Hikaru and Kaoru, Honey Senpai and Mori.

Next we have our CUSTOM USA-CHAN COTTON JEWELRY POUCH, Usa-chan is a cute bunny bear that Honey Senpai is pretty much never seen without, Honey Senpai is one of the oldest members of the host club but with his small frame and childish ways and loves for sweets and teddies, he would often be mistake for a child. A couple of Christmas' ago I actually bought Skye her own Usa-chan, which she still has.

Next we have CUSTOM USA-CHAN DANGLE EARRINGS, I'm always a little gutted when we get earrings as they're always so cute and my ears aren't pierced. These earrings are the cutest things I think I've seen and make me want to go and get my ears pierced, they look so well made.

Next we have an OURAN HIGH SCHOOL INSPIRED ROSE RING, each member of the host club has a different coloured rose which represents them, Mori-Senpai has a dark blue rose which in Japanese culture represents loyalty, Honey Senpai has a pink rose which symbolises love and sweetness, the twins have each a different coloured rose; Kaoru has an orange rose which in Western cultures symbolises enthusiasm, passion and desire, while Hikaru's rose is a light blue also symbolising loyalty. Kyoya has a purple rose which expresses love at first sight and enchantment, it also has a traditional association with royalty, Tamaki has a white rose which represents innocence and purity and finally Haruhi has the well known red rose which symbolises true love and life as well as a loving heart and devotion. As expected we got the leading lady, Haruhi's rose and it's really pretty. I'm not sure on when or where I would wear this as it's quite large and my fingers are small and dainty.

Next we have a CUSTOM SCHOOL CREST IRON-ON PATCH, I literally screamed when I saw this as I can now be a student of Ouran High School. I think this item is a must have for all Ouran High School Host Club fans out there. I do already own a blazer but I don't know if I want to buy a brand new one that is the same colour as there's or use the dark blue blazer that I already own.

Lastly we have a CUSTOM OURAN HIGH SCHOOL CREST NECKLACE, which is a replica of the patch as it's obviously Ouran Highs school logo. I think this necklace is a really nice length, it's easy to put on and take off as well as looking really well made.

I absolutely loved this box but I have to say that the patch had to be my favourite item in the box. I'm not sure when my next box will be as March's box was One Piece and I'm not a fan of that series and sadly because of funding I had to skip both April and May's box even though I really didn't want to as April's box was Princess Serenity aka Sailor Moon and May's box is my favourite series Attack on Titan. I look forward to checking out other unboxing's for those 2 boxes, just a shame I had to skip them both.

Fangirl Monthly: October Box

As I mentioned at the end of September's post, Octobers Fangirl Monthly box is Sailor V.
Many people that are fans of Sailor Moon knows that Sailor V is a sailor scout also known as Sailor Venus but what some people may not know is that Sailor V appeared before Sailor Moon and she has her own little manga series called Codename: Sailor V, which shows us how Minako Aino becomes Sailor V and her rise to popularity for which we see at the start of Sailor Moon, all the merchandise being sold and certain sailor scouts idolizing her.
Shall we check out the goodies from the box?

First up we have an EXCLUSIVE SAILOR V/SAILOR VENUS POSTCARD PRINT, this is our usual postcard print created by Mayu Matsumoto. I think this postcard print is really pretty and I love the colours, design and imagery.

Next we have our CUSTOM SAILOR V MASK COTTON JEWELRY POUCH, when I think of Sailor V I think of the glasses she wears to hide her identity. I love that it's her glasses that are used for the design on the jewelry pouch.

Next we have a CUSTOM LOVE ME CHAIN INSPIRED BRACELET, as soon as I saw this bracelet I couldn't help shouting out love Me Chain in my head, in the series she wears it around her waist as a belt to which it extends when she uses it to attack and protect. I love this bracelet but my wrists are small and I'm scared that when I wear it it will fall off.

Next we have SAILOR V RED STUD EARRINGS, these are designed like the red earrings she wears herself, they're really pretty but sadly my ears are no longer pierced so I can't wear them.

Next we have a CUSTOM ACRYLIC SAILOR V MASK PENDANT NECKLACE, I love this necklace, I love that it's designed like her glasses she wears to hide her identity. The necklace is a really good length and fit, I think you could get away with wearing it for any occasion, it's really easy to put on and take off and one of my favourite necklace's from Fangirl Monthly.

Lastly we have a SAILOR V CRESCENT MOON COMPACT PIN BY GEEKMEPRETTY, this pin has to be my favourite item from the Sailor V box and it's not the first time we've had a pin from GeekMePretty, their pins are really well made and designed are absolutely gorgeous. I'm wanting to buy a new coat before I attach this and my other pins to it.

I love all the goodies we got in our Sailor V Fangirl Monthly box, but I have to say my favourite items are the pin and necklace, I'll be going out for food soon with some friends so maybe I'll be brave and wear the bracelet with the outfit I wear. 

I won't be getting November and December's boxes as I am unfamiliar with the series' that they are spotlighting, November's box is Inuyasha, which I have heard of and seen in my local Waterstones but I have never read or watched the series and December's box is Revolutionary Girl Utena (Shoujo Kakumei Utena) which is a series I am completely unfamiliar with as I've never heard of the series.

Fangirl Monthly: September Box

As I mentioned at the end of August's Fangirl Monthly post, September's box is Bleach. Bleach is an anime and manga series that I collect, when I first started Bleach I actually couldn't get into it and stopped after about 3 or 4 episodes, a few months later I decided to give it another go and this time was hooked from the start. I have to say that my favourite characters are Ichigo and Orihime, to say I'm a big fan of the series I'm ashamed to say that I have neither finished reading the manga or watching the anime, I'm excited but also sceptical of the live action movie being released as we all saw what happened to Attack on Titan, some can work as live action and some don't but we'' have to wait and see how this one pans out. I'd be surprised if people that enjoy anime and manga are not familiar with Bleach as along with Naruto and One Piece it was classed as one of the big 3, the series follows Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains soul reaper powers from soul reaper Rukia Kuchiki, he now has to take on the duties of a soul reaper defending humans from evil spirits and guiding souls to the afterlife.

Shall we check out the goodies from the box?

First up we have an EXCLUSIVE "BLEACH CREW" POSTCARD PRINT, this is our usual postcard print by Mayu Matsumoto. I love that this postcard print includes all the main characters even Kon, the background colour makes each of the characters pop especially Ichigo.

Next we have a ICHIGO KUROSAKI HOLLOW MASK REFLECTIVE DECAL, I have no idea where I'm going to place this to be honest, but I will be turning the small bedroom into a reading room with all my manga and K-pop in there, so maybe I could place it on the window or on the wall. I do think this looks pretty amazing so I can't wait to get to find a place to put it.

Next we have our CUSTOM SHINIGAMI SYMBOL COTTON JEWELRY POUCH, I've said before that I love that we get custom jewelry pouches for each theme to keep the jewelry and accessories in, it's such a pretty blue that they've used for the pouch.

Next we have an ICHIGO KUROSAKI HOLLOW MASK NECKLACE, I think this necklace is a very versatile item as I think it's a good item for either guys or girls to wear. The chain is a good length for that it just sits below the neck and just above the chest. I love the colours on the necklace as well as the design and the little gem for the eye. It's easy to put on and take off, which is good as you don't want to be stood a long time messing with the clasp to wear it.

Next we have INOUE ORIHIME INSPIRED HAIR PINS, as I said at the start of the post Orihime is one of my favourite characters from Bleach, overall she is my favourite female character. These cute pins came at the right time for me as I've started pinning my fringe back. I think they're really ideal for people that are wanting to cosplay as Orihime and I can honestly say that this has to be my favourite item from this box.

Next we have a SHINIGAMI CHARM BRACELET, personally for me this looks like a bracelet for a guy more than a girl. Sadly for me this bracelet is way too big for me but it does look well made.

Lastly we have a CUSTOM KON ACRYLIC KEYCHAIN, we've had an acrylic keychain before as well as an acrylic broach, which for me the Kon keychain looks the best, I will be adding him to my keys.

We got some amazing goodies in our Bleach box, I expected it to be very Ichigo inspired but I'm glad we got something Orihime related, I was also expecting to see something inspired by the Zanpakuto, which is the swords all the soul reapers use. Overall the Bleach box was a great box that was very versatile which I have noticed tends to happen with the shows that have a mixed gender audience.
I am looking forward to the October box but I did fight with myself whether to skip Octobers box but decided to get the box and compare it to our first box, which I'm sure may have you wondering why.

Fangirl Monthly: August Box

I'm finally back with a Fangirl Monthly post, June and July's boxes were series' that I wasn't familiar with so I skipped those boxes but August's box I knew I had to get as it's a series that I am really familiar with and even though I've only really sat and watched the live action movies, I know this is a good series.

Fangirl Monthly's August box theme is Death Note, lets see what goodies we got inside the August box.

First up we have a EXCLUSIVE LIGHT & RYUK POSTCARD PRINT, I love that we always get one of these postcard prints and I love that they still use the artwork from Mayu Matsumoto, but I have to say it's not one of my favourite postcard prints that I've received so far through Fangirl Monthly. I do like the colours used though as it makes the characters pop more from the background.

Next we have a CUSTOM L COTTON JEWELRY POUCH, I will continue to say that I love that we get a custom pouch's made by Fangirl Monthly for that months theme, I keep the jewelry and accessories for that theme in it's own pouch so it's easier to identify where to find the item I want. Whenever I think of Death Note I think of how L is designed and was even excited when a friend from work got me a mug with L on it and it was designed the same way.

Next we have a CUSTOM MISA COSPLAY NECKLACE, for people not familiar with Death Note, Misa is the main female character that devotes herself to Light Yagmai and falls in love with him after finding out he is Kira and is responsible for the death of the murderer that killed her family. She is often shown as a blonde with parts of her hair up in pigtails and dresses in a Gothic style. She is a Japanese Idol and becomes a 2nd Kira when she gets her hands on another Death Note. She has been seen wearing a cross necklace in the manga and a Fleurs-de-lis necklace in the anime, which is the necklace we received in our box. The necklace is easy to put on and take off and is a decent length when being worn, it's not a necklace I would purchase and wear myself but it is really pretty and well made to the point that I would wear it if it would suit my outfit, it would also come in handy if I ever decided to cosplay as Misa.

Next we have RYUK INSPIRED APPLE EARRINGS, Ryuk is a Shinigami. In Japanese mythology a Shinigami is what we would know as the Grim reaper, Ryuk is bored living in the Shinigami realm and wants entertainment in his life, so drops a Death Note into the human world, which Light Yagami finds and uses to write the names of criminals in order to kill them. Ryuk has a fondness of apples and describes that fondness as what humans would call an addiction to things like alcohol and cigarettes. To be honest I'm not surprised we got something apple related in this box as especially in the live action film apples are seen a lot floating about, as a sign of Ryuk eating them. I get a bit gutted when we get earrings as I'm not able to put them to use as my ears are no longer pierced, while the earrings do look pretty and colourful, they aren't something I would choose to wear.

Next we have a LIGHT & L DOUBLE INITIAL CHARM NECKLACE, Light Yagami and L are the main characters of Death Note and secretly each other enemy, L is brought in to find and stop Kira and suspects Light is him and attempts to stop him, Light wants to find out L's real name to write his name into his Death Note to stop him as he believes there really isn't any justice in Japan's justice system. This is my favourite jewelry item from the box, it's easy to put on and take off and is really well made, I like that it's not your usual chain necklace and I think the design and colour of it really adds to how pretty it is. I think it's a versatile necklace then both men and women can get away with wearing. I love that Light's initial has wording from the Death Note.

Lastly we have a DEATH NOTE NOTEBOOK KEYCHAIN, I can honestly say that this is my favourite item from the box and as soon as I took it out of the box I placed it on a locker key I have that I sometimes use at work. I love that on the front it says Death Note and then on the back we have a quote from the Death Note "The human whose name is written in this note shall die."

As you know my last Fangirl Monthly box was the Fullmetal Alchemist box in May, one thing I like about this subscription is you can skip months if you're not really familiar or a fan of that months theme hence why I haven't had a box since May.
June's box was Madoka Magica which is a series I know of but not one I have read or watched, I do often eye up the manga whenever I see it in a book store.
July's box was Hatsune Miku and although I know of her and like her I wouldn't say that I'm a die hard fan that I felt I needed jewelry and accessories.
I really liked this box and I like that the items were versatile as Death Note is a popular series with both guys and girls. Death Note is a series I think gets people to really think about how they would react in this situation as I can see reasoning from both Light and L. I agree with Light in the way that the justice system doesn't always work and I strongly believe that it should be life for a life, but in L's shoes I can see that even though Light begins by only killing criminals, he's acting no different to any other murderer in the way he is planning to kill this people to the point he manipulates how they will die and even starts killing people that are innocent and getting in his way, this is where I believe Light deserves the life for a life consequence. 
I can't wait till my next box arrives as I will be receiving the the September box and I'm really excited as it's another series that I love both the show and the characters.
September box is Bleach.
