Heaven Official's Blessing is a Chinese BL novel written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, it's also known by it's Chinese name Tian Guan Ci Fu.

Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is a globally renowned author whose works are often cited as the best-known in the modern danmei genre. Originally self-published via the novel serialization website, JJWXC, her current titles include The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, and Heaven Official's Blessing. All three series' received multiple adaptations and have been published in numerous languages around the world.

In China BL is known as Danmei, the novel was first published in 2017, on JinJiang Literature City, a popular Chinese website for publishing and serializing online fiction.

Though not chronologically, the novel and book series, follows Xie Lian, a once human crown prince of the kingdom of Xianle in the east who ascends to godhood at seventeen, after dedicating himself to cultivation and martial training. During the inaugural years of his divinity, his kingdom experiences upheavel and war, due in part to draught and a terrifying new disease. Going against the edicts of both the heavenly realm and of fate, Xie Lian involves himself in the affairs of the mortals who have always loved and supported him, hoping to achieve peace and relieve suffering in his kingdom. Unfortunately, his appearance in the mortal world only amplifies the conflicts between his people and their desperation leads to the dramatic and abrupt downfall of Xianle, as well as the downfall of Xie Lian. The people destroy his temples, statues and abandoning him as their most respected religious figure and earning him the reputation of a God of Misfortune.

The novel is being officially translated into English by Seven Seas Entertainment, with the 3rd volume being published on the 12th of July 2022.

Something to Fight For, Someone to Live For.
Gods should never meddle in the affairs of mortals, but Xie Lian is not one to follow the rules when lives are at risk. He spits in the face of heaven and it's laws and descends in a fury to save his country from drought and civil war. Yet this golden child gets a harsh dose of reality when he discovers just how little one individual - even a God - can do to save a crumbling nation.
As the people reject and betray him, one young soldier stands by Xie Lian - a boy with a face wrapped in bandages and a fierce loyalty in his heart.
In this chaotic past, can an unbreakable bond grow from the ashes of unimaginable destruction?

The more I read these volumes the more I find it hard to put them down, as expected it didn't take me long to complete this volume.
I really loved reading about Xie Lian's past and getting more of an insight into the disasters that are mentioned in the first volume about Xie Lian's first fall from grace. We also got more of an insight into his relationships with Feng Xin and Mu Qing aka Generals Nan Yang and Xuan Zhen.
I think in this volume you begin to see the cracks in Xie Lian and Mu Qing's relationship, even though there is a few cracks and although Mu Qing doess't agree with a lot of Xie Lian's ideas and choices, he still has a sense of loyalty towards him, where as Feng Xin seems to the end that he will defend and fight for Xie Lian's choices.
I think we all know by now who the young soldier with a face covered in bandages is, and at times it frustrates me that Xie Lian isn't putting 2 and 2 together, but I think that's down to him having lost memories, from living so long.
I loved that a majority of volume 3 is set in the past as it adds more to the story and allows us to get to know our main characters and see how they change and grow from what happened, for me I think this volume really put into perspective just how much one person can do and shows that even someone who is seemingly powerful and immortal can do. It makes me think more about how the reactions in this book are seen in the real world with religions, but it makes me think instead of turning to a higher power for help, learn to fight for yourself, there is only so much you can do, you just have to learn from the mistakes you make and the consequences of your decisions.
As expected like the other volumes, the artwork is stunning and breath taking, I'm always excited to get my hands on another volume to have a nosey through all the artwork first, it makes it so much easier and better to visualise some of the aspects from the novel.

I always love how each volume leads into the next one, it really makes you want to get stuck into the next one. I don't think I'll ever be disappointed with Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's writing skills, she's definitely become one of my favourite authors.

I've already read and completed volume 4, but I'm trying to hold myself back on reading volume 5 as the final 3 volumes are slowly being published in English and I don't think I have the patience to wait for them to be published, so I'm now trying to savour each volume.
