Manga Madness: Love Stage!!

Hello
Annyeoung
Konnichiwa
Ni Hao

It's time for me to share with you another manga that I've been reading.
Love Stage is a Yaoi manga written by Eiki Eiki and illustrated by Taishi Zao. It began it's serialisation in the July 2010 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Asuka Ciel magazine. The series has been licensed in North America by SuBLime as well as also being published in Germany by Tokyopop, Love Stage also has a spin-off light novel series titled Back Stage!! which began in May 2011. In 2014 the series got a 10-episode anime series which aired between July and September. So far there are 5 volumes of the series released in English with volume 6 due to be released on December 13th this year(2016).

The series follows main characters Izumi Sena and Ryoma Ichijo, with regular appearances from Izumi's manager Rei Sagara and Izumi's brother Shogo Sena.
As a child Izumi was forced to dress up as a girl as a stand in for a commercial when he was 8 years old, things went wrong during the filming causing Izumi to now have stage fright and not want to step foot into the entertainment world again. Izumi filmed the commercial with a 10 year old Ryoma Ichijo. On the 10 year anniversary of the commercial the company decides to film an anniversary commercial showing the original children all grown up and getting married, Ryoma now 20 and a popular actor says he will only do the commercial if the original girl takes part also meaning he will get to meet her again. During the wrap up of the commercial Ryoma confesses to Izumi saying that he's waited 10 years to be able to meet 'her' again as he's been in love with 'her' all these years and couldn't forget her.
Shogo appears and reveals to Ryoma that the girl Izumi that he's been in love with is in fact a boy and his younger brother, causing Ryoma to lash out saying he never wants to be involved with them ever again.
As Izumi gets back into his regular routine Rei continues to try and convince him to get into the entertainment industry as all his family are in it, with his father being a famous director, his mother a famous actress and his older brother Shogo being the lead vocalist in a popular rock band, but because of his stage fright Izumi has his sights set on being a mangaka, something he doesn't really have the talent for.
Ryoma finds it difficult to forget his feelings for Izumi and contacts him in the hopes of starting a friendship between the two of them and in the hopes that one day Izumi will return his feelings.
Over the course of the series with the help of Rei, Shogo and Ryoma; Izumi begins to overcome his stage fright and steps into the limelight of the entertainment industry, and eventually begins to have feelings for Ryoma and rushing to tell him he's in love with him, a relationship starts. While working on a film together they fall out and Ryoma loses all his memories of Izumi and him together, will Izumi be able to help Ryoma recover his memories or will Ryoma move on leaving Izumi behind?

I've made it no secret that I'm a fan of Yaoi manga and anime, I wasn't aware that Love Stage had been made into an anime till I read all the available chapters on my manga app and then noticed that I'd placed the anime on to my to watch list on Crunchyroll. I can't wait for the next update and I have also started buying the volumes to this series so that I can re-read without using up the battery up on my phone. You can always tell in yaoi which character will be the bottom and who will be the top and Love Stage is no different, I love that they make a joke of that in one of the chapters when Izumi threatens to top Ryoma and his think bubble states he's glad he researched on what to do. Shogo is definitely there for comedy value with how he seems to have a spidey sense when it comes to Izumi and always seems to appear at the wrong time. What I love about this series is that Ryoma falls in love with Izumi thinking he's a girl but he's feelings don't change when he finds out he's a guy, I think it's a way to point out to anyone that reads it that love is love no matter the persons gender. I think I've mentioned in a previous post how I find it odd that yaoi and yuri(lesbian) is pretty popular in manga and anime but in the real world most Asian countries are against it seeing it as a mental problem, to me the main moral of this series is gender does not matter, they both love one another a fight for one another. Even if you're not a fan of yaoi I would recommend giving this series a try it's funny and calls out to any romance fans. Strangely I'm not a chick flick fan as to me they are always the same but give me any manga that has a romance story and I'll give it a try. I've not really sold this series but what do you have to lose by giving it a try, yaoi is a love or hate genre I think and the only way to find out if they're for you is by giving some series' a try and for me Love Stage is at the top of my list of recommendations.

I'm always on the hunt for new yaoi manga to give a try so if you have any recommendations then let me know in the comments below.

See you soon!

Super Lovers Anime

Hello
Annyeoung

I thought this week's anime post I would post about a Yaoi anime, so shall we get started?
The Super Lovers anime is based off the BL manga of the same name by Miyuki Abe. The anime adaptation was announced in a handout included with the reprint of volume 1 of the W.P.B manga.

The series is directed by Shinji Ishihira, with the series written by Yoshiko Nakamura. The series animation is done by the animation studio Studio Deen and Miki Takihara is in charge of the characters designs.
The series has one opening theme and one ending theme, the opening theme is Okaeri by Yusuke Yata and the ending theme is Happiness YOU&ME sung by the voice actors of the Kaido brothers: Haru, Ren, Aki and Shima.
Check them out below.

Okaeri by Yusuke Yata

Happiness YOU&ME by Ren, Haru, Aki & Shima
By Atreyu

The series consists of 10 episodes for season 1, with the first season running from 6th April 2016 to 8th June 2016, a second season has been announced and scheduled for release in January 2017 again through Studio Deen.

The series follows characters Haru and Ren as they meet in Canada when Haru visits his birth mother Haruko and meets an antisocial 8 year old Ren, on arrival Haru is told he is to make Ren more civil as Ren spends most of his time with Haruko's dogs and barely speaking to anyone. Ren eventually comes to trust Haru and becomes attached to him to which Haru and Ren make a promise with one another that Ren will eventually move to Japan and all live together as a family. On Haru's return to Japan he is in a car accident with his father and step mother to which Haru is the only survivor, the accident causes Haru to lose all his past memories including those spent with Ren. 5 years later Ren arrives in Japan to fulfil the promise they made to live together, together with Haru and his half brothers Aki and Shima they find out that before their death the Kaido's had in fact adopted Ren meaning Ren was now part of their family. Haru eventually regains his memories including those of Ren and their relationship begins to change from brothers to lovers.

I started this series this year when I found the manga on my Manga Rock app and I;m really enjoying the manga, I enjoy reading everything through Ren's perspective as he learns to trust people other than Haru in his life. I was ecstatic when I found out that it had been made into an anime and even more excited when I finished season 1 to learn that it had already been announced that there is going to be a season 2 and I don't have a long wait for it's return unlike some of the shows I follow. I know this series won't be for everyone and many may not like the whole brothers to lovers aspect of it but I don't acknowledge that part of the story as I've never looked at them as they are brothers more like 2 people that care for one another, which in time grows to attraction and love for one another. I could continuously praise this series like I do with the other series' I post about but each time I do I realise that only the reader can say if it's something they would enjoy. I've also learnt through these posts that I'm not really that good at selling the series' that I enjoy but even if just one person finds a new anime to enjoy after reading my posts then I'm happy/

Manga Madness: Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi - Onodera Ritsu no Baal

Hello
An nyeoung
Konnichiwa
Ni hao

WARNING! PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT

I thought I'd change up this week's Manga, I tend to post more about action or romance so I thought this week I would do about one of my favourite romance manga's called Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Onodera Ritsu no Ball which in the UK is known as The World's Greatest First Love: The Case of Onodera Ritsu, if you've seen my past Top 10 Anime List post it may sound familiar as the anime for this manga ranked at no.2 in my list. Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi is a Boys Love manga which is also often known as BL or Yaoi if you haven't figured it our from Boys Love then the penny may drop with it's a boy on boy romance manga.

The manga is written and illustrated by Shungiku Nakamura and started it's serialisation back in October 2006 and is still running today.
The manga follows Onodera Ritsu (Ritsu Onodera to us) as he starts a new job at Marukawa Publishing to make his name big on his own rather than being the son of the owner of Onodera Publishing's, but instead of being placed in the literature department that he loves, he's placed in the Shojo Manga department. Onodera doesn't get along with his new boss Takano Masamune, after helping out Takano all night Onodera learns that back in high school Takano had a different surname. Takano recognises Onodera and Onodera thinks he's mistaken him for someone else until Takano reveals in high school his family name was Saga. The penny drops for Onodera as he realises Takano is the senpai he confessed to in high school and the reason why for the past 10 years he's not been able to find love again. Takano reveals that he could never forget Onodera and reveals that he still has feelings for him and states that he will make Onodera confess his love for him again. The series carries on this story of Takano making Onodera fall in love with him again and Onodera trying his hardest not to. The series also follows two other couples 2 of which are also editors in the Shojo Manga department, editor Yoshiyuki Hatori and his childhood friend and mangaka that he edits Yoshino Chiaki and editor Shouta Kisa and bookstore employee Yukina Kou.

In February 2015 the first 8 volumes on the manga had been licensed for an English release so far only 4 volumes have been released in the UK with the 5th volume being released in November this year(2016), overall so far the manga has 11 volumes. In 2011 the manga go an anime adaptation which had 2 seasons following the same characters. Nakamura's first manga was Junjo Romanica which often sees characters cross between Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi and Junjo Romantica, Junjo Romantica is another Yaoi anime and manga that I follow.

I love the story between Onodera and Takano and I'm rooting for them to end up together amidst the fiance's and jealous friends. The volumes also have a warning on the front cover as there are also scenes of a sexual nature, yes they are shown to be having sex hence my warning at the start too though certain parts are never clearly drawn a warning is still required. You may think that as a straight woman it's odd for me to enjoy reading a gay manga but Yaoi is more popular amongst female manga fans.

If you love manga and enjoy romance manga's then I'd suggest checking out this one, I originally found the anime first on Crunchyroll and got hooked really quickly and then found the manga on my manga app, I always have my fingers crossed that there's a new update on my app for the next chapter but sadly it's not been updated for nearly a month.

Do you read Yaoi manga?
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Do you read Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi?
What did you think?
Let me know in the comments below.

See you soon!
