I thought this time instead of sharing with you a drama that I've watched, I'd share with you a variety program.
BUSTED! is a South Korean variety web television series on Netflix. It's a Netflix Original co-produced with South Korean production company SangSang.
The show is Netflix's first original program to showcase an all Korean cast. During a press briefing, producer Cho Hyo-jin mentioned that Netflix's goal for BUSTED! was to create a hit show for South Korea, which can then be "consumed on the global stage".
Season 1 aired from the 4th of May 2018 and completing on the 1st of June 2018, season 1 contains 10 episodes.

Cho Hyo-jin, one of the executive producers of BUSTED!, stated that he and the other producers pitched a variety show to Netflix where ordinary people can become detectives and solve cases, Netflix liked the concept. The initial title for the show was "Dumb and Dumber Detective". On the 27th of September 2017, it was reported that the final line up for the show would consist of Yoo Jae-suk, Ahn Jae-wook, Kim Jong-min, Lee Kwang-soo, Park Min-young, EXO's Oh Sehun and Gugudan's Kim Se-jeong.
According to Cho Hyo-jin, Lee Kwang-soo and Kim Jong-min were added to the cast to highlight the 'dumb and dumber' aspect, while Ahn Jae-wook and Park Min-young were added due to their serious personalities.
Filming for the show began the 27th of September 2017, Yoo Yeon-seok was confirmed as the shows first guest. On the 30th of May 2018, Netflix renewed the show for a second season. Then on the 6th of September 2018, it was reported that the original cast would be returning, apart from Lee Kwang-soo, who would not be joining due to scheduling conflicts.
At a Netflix event, held in November 2018, producer Jang Hyuk-jae announced that Lee Seung-gi would be joining the cast

Each episode features guest celebrities, unlike other Korean variety show formats, guests for BUSTED! play characters, many of whom have the same name as the celebrities themselves. The characters are somehow involved in the murder mystery in each episode and/or lead the cats to clues for solving the murder mystery

Seven celebrity sleuths discover that they are part of an operation called Project D, in which they are implanted with a chip containing the DNA of famous detectives throughout history. Led by a man known only as K, they are recruited as private detectives and are given a new case in each episode, all the while figuring out the mystery behind Project D and it's inception.

I absolutely love the theme used at the end of each episode and when they seem to make a big break in each case, the only thing I'm gutted about is that the song and artist hasn't been released, meaning I can't buy the song.

I don't think they could have got a better line up for BUSTED! each member of the cast brought something to the series, whether it be brains or laughter. I don't think there is an episode where I wasn't crying with laughter. I've watched season 1 twice now and it still has me howling with laughter, I love that the whole show isn't scripted meaning some of the one liners are even funnier. I decided to watch BUSTED! because I'm an EXO fan and I was happy to see Sehun get some limelight away from EXO, and I came away being a fan of Lee Kwang-soo and Park Min-young. I love the concept of the show and found myself holding my breath when they're against the clock wondering if they can do it and win. I did end the series shouting at the TV, as well as being tearful wondering what happened.
I can't wait for season 2 to be completed, which is reported to be released sometime in 2019. I'm curious to know if it will start where season 1 ended or if there will be a time jump, and show is further down the line what happened at the end of season 1. I can't wait to see the cast return, although I'm sad this season we have to miss Lee Kwang-soo, I'm excited to see what lee Seung-gi has to bring, and hopefully if BUSTED! returns for a third season, Lee Kwang-soo will return.

Have you watched BUSTED!
Were you a fan of the cast and concept?
Will you be watching season 2?

See you soon!
