After 2 years I'm back with another Super Junior post this time with their 8th full length album Play and sadly their lowest number of member to promote with.
On the 27th of September 2017 Super Juniors official website began a countdown to their 12th anniversary, on the 6th of November, with the text SJ Returns, revealing their anniversary to be their comeback date.
On the 15th of October 2017, Part 1 of their comeback schedule was released, a few days later on the 17th of October their group image teasers were released.
On the 18th of October 2017, Leeteuk and Siwon's individual image teasers were released along with the announcement that their album would be called Play.
On the 19th of October 2017, Donghae and Eunhyuk and Shindong's individual teaser images were released along with the announcement that Play would contain 10 tracks.
On the 20th of October 2017, Heechul and Yesung's individual image teasers were released.
On the 30th of October 2017, Part 2 of their comeback schedule was released. On the same day the M/V teaser for 비처럼 가지 마요 (One More Chance) was released.
I love this album and I was unaware that Kyuhyun would appear on a couple of the tracks, so I was rather happy that while I was missing his vocals 예뻐 보여 (Girlfriend) started and there he was. Even without Kyuhyun and Ryeowook, they proved that their vocals are still on point and I was especially proud of Siwon's vocals, I don't think I've heard his vocals be that jaw dropping before. While I was really excited for Super Juniors return, I felt that personally for me and possibly for the promoting members that it was a bittersweet comeback knowing that they had to comeback without members that should have been a part of their comeback. While I understand Kangin's inactivity due to his scandal and obviously his own personal issues he's fighting, I was absolutely gutted and heartbroken that Sungmin announced he would be sitting out this comeback. I bet you're thinking he must have done something bad to make that decision right.......wrong and here's the side of K-pop I really dislike, before he enlisted for his mandatory military service he got married and "fans" weren't happy that he kept his relationship a secret to the point that when their comeback was announced these "fans" threatened to boycott their comeback if Sungmin was a part of it and even demanding his removal from the group. Seeing how his involvement could possibly damage Super Juniors first comeback in 2 years, Sungmin announced he would sit out this comeback, bringing heartache to not only his fans but his members. Siwon also ended up sitting out promoting the album due to schedule conflicts and a scandal that his family dog had caused, meaning Super Junior would be promoting with the lowest number of members since their debut, even member Heechul only appeared performing Black Suit at his rap and final chorus due to him being in pain with his legs from a previous car accident. Right back to the album, each track is different but I can still hear that Super Junior style in each song, I also love that both Siwon and Leeteuk got to shine a little more with their vocals. I love the whole layout of the album as well as the pictures, each member gets to shine as well as reminding us that Super Junior really shine as a group too, I can't help but think though that spaces left in group shots would have been where Sungmin would have stood and a way for Super Junior to show what others have caused.

On the 6th of November 2017, Super Juniors 8th full length album Play was released both digitally and physically along with the M/V release of track Black Suit.

On release day Super Junior also held a press conference to announce the albums release and they also held a V Live with the group talking about the album. Within 24 hours of it's release the M/V for Black Suit gained 3 million views.
Promotions began on the 9th of November starting on M Countdown.
Play ranked No.1 on the iTunes Albums and Pop Albums Chart in 23 and 26 countries, it was also announced that SM's stocks hit their highest yet in 2017, on the day of Super Juniors comeback as the highest stocks among the big 3 entertainment companies. According to Gaon, Play sold over 200,000 copies in it's first week making it their highest first week sales yet. On the 28th of November 2017, Play was re-released with a Pause version with a Cd only bonus track sung by unit group K.R.Y.
Eunhyuk wrote the lyrics for Scene Stealer and co-wrote Good Day For A Good Day and 예뻐 보여 (Girlfriend).
Donghae and Eunhyuk co-wrote 비처럼 가지 마요 (One More Chance), with Donghae also co-composing the track.
Heechul co-wrote I Do (두 번째 고백) and both Heechul and Eunhyuk co-wrote Spin Up.
Play peaked at No.1 on the Gaon Albums Chart, No.16 on the Oricon Albums Chart, No.15 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart and No.3 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

The M/V for 비처럼 가지 마요 (One More Chance) has so far gained 13,640,197 million views.
The M/V for Black Suit has so far gained 17,424,448 million views.
The views for both M/V's continue to increase each day.
Play is released in 3 versions Pause, One More Chance and Black Suit.
Both One More Chance and Black Suit versions have the same album design but different colours, One More Chance is blue while Black Suit is black and red. The Pause version has a similar design with the Cd being gold and on the cover of the album. Both the Black Suit and One More Chance version are set out as hardback book style cases with the Cd's in the back, while the Pause version has a box case with the cover having a 3D effect like 2PM's No.5 album.
Cd designs for all 3 are different with the One More Chance version having a random member Cd.
When the album spines of One More Chance and Black Suit are connected they show a play button.
The photobooks for all 3 versions are different, Black Suit version follows a darker colour concept while One More Chance follows a brighter colour concept, the Pause version has 2 photobooks, 1 for images from the Black Suit M/V and Black Suit album concept and 1 for images from the One More Chance M/V and One More Chance album concept.
All 3 versions come with a random member photo/card with a letter from the member on the back, Pause version comes with a photo/card of either Ryeowook or Kyuhyun.

Members have revealed that they're planning a world tour as well as a comeback for this year so I hope Sungmin can participate this time, time will only tell when we will see Kangin as an active member of Super Junior again but I can't wait for the day that they are once again united as a full group.
