For this week's K-pop post I wanted to share and introduce any new people to a group called BTS, I've only recently got into this group (I started listening to them in January) so I can't say I'm a fully fledged ARMY (fandom name) but I'm definitely dipping my toes in.
BTS also known as Bangtan Boys are a seven member male group, the members are: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Rap Monster, Jimin, V and Jungkook. They were formed by their company Big Hit Entertainment and they made their debut in 2013. A year later on August 5th 2014 Big Hit released a comeback trailer for BTS titled Dark & Wild Comeback Trailer, revealing that BTS were returning with their first full length album, the trailer featured a track rapped by Rap Monster over an animation of a colourful forest paradise and dark looking abandoned buildings.

On August 11th Big Hit released a teaser for the announced title track Danger revealing scenes, vocals and music for the track.

On August 13th Big Hit treated BTS fans to a second Danger teaser showing off the groups sharp choreography.

On August 19th both the album Dark & Wild and the MV for Danger was released for all to hear and see. The MV highlights each member individually as well as showing off their skills as a group dancing, the song is about how the girl they love is confusing them making them feel like she is playing them and using their feelings to her advantage.

A few months later after promotions for Danger had finished on October 21st 2014 an MV was released for another track on the Dark & Wild album called 호르몬 전쟁(War of Hormone), which is basically a song about what the title says they are at war with their hormones saying that they react to women and women are the best creations in the world. The MV is mostly in black and white with only red items having colour making the video pop a bit more, and as expected their choreography as a group is on point.

All members of BTS are involved with creating their music, on Dark & wild Rap Monster, Suga and J-hope co-wrote 11 of the 14 tracks on the album, Rap Monster co-wrote the lyrics for the track What Am I To You for which he alone raps on the track, it also opens up the album, and Suga is named as producer for the track Let Me Know.
Dark & wild debuted at No.2 on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart, No.3 on the Gaon Monthly Album Chart for the month of August. Dark & Wild also entered the charts in America with it hitting No.3 on Billboard's World Album Chart and No.27 on the US Top Heatseekers Chart.
As of 2015 Dark & Wild has sold 127,053+ copies and won the Album Award at the 2015 29th Golden Disk Awards.
Dark & Wild is the first album I've had that has been packaged the way it is, it's all presented in a box that has a little ribbon that lifts out the booklet to reveal the CD underneath. The box is black with the BTS logo in red and the Dark & Wild in big white stand out letters, there's even a little warning on the album saying: Warning! Love hurts, it causes anger, jealousy, obsession, why don't u love me back? The booklet is full of group and individual shots along with the lyrics and album credits all following the black, white and red colour theme.

I'm quite surprised that I really liked this album as it's a mixture of Hip hop & R&B which is not something I regularly listen to especially hip hop, It's also the first time I've listened to a group that swears in their music, even if they do try and hide it in Korean. I have nothing but respect for this group though as even though they are young they participate in their music and are not fully controlled by their company like some of the groups within the K-pop world. I'm going to share with you a few of the tracks on the album that I liked when I first heard them, the full album is amazing but these do stand out for me.

These songs weren't the first time I listened to BTS but this album definitely made me more interested in following them and wanting to continue to watch their future unfold.
