After Ravi's solo debut, VIXX made a comeback with a whole new concept and sound that personally for me only VIXX could pull off.
Shangri-La is VIXX' 4th mini album, and on the 23rd of March 2017 Jellyfish Entertainment announced that VIXX were working on their new album with a May release in mind.
On the 2nd of May it was announced that the mini album would be called Do Won Kyung aka Shangri-La. On the 4th of May VIXX released individual member teaser pictures along with their birth flowers.

On the 7th of May the Shangri-La Highlight Medley was released.

On the 11th of May the Shangri-La M/V Teaser was released.

On the 15th of May the Shangri-La M/V was released along with the release of the Shangri-La mini album, with it being released both digitally and physically, promotions began on the 16th of May.

Ravi wrote and co-composed track (1,2,3,4,5 - It's Coming) as well as also co-writing on the other 4 tracks on the mini album. Sadly Shangri-La only won 1 music show trophy which was on The Show, which with them going up against Twice, I had commented that The Show would be the music show they would succeed on with them being popular in China (votes from Korea and China), as well as a majority of their wins being from The Show.
Shangri-La peaked at No.2 on the Gaon Albums Chart, No.37 on the Oricon Albums Chart, No.3 on Five-Music (Taiwan) Weekly Albums Chart, No.13 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart and No.4 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

The Shangri-La M/V has so far gained 7,269,912 million views through their official YouTube channel as well as 418,178 views through CJENMUSIC's official YouTube channel, meaning the M/V has so far gained 7,688,090 million views.
Shangri-La was released in 2 versions a Birthstone version and a Birth Flower version, both versions are set out in the same book style case and have the same layout, with the 2nd half of the photo book having the same pictures. The Birthstone version has a green cover and the Birth Flower version being a burgundy cover, the first half of the photo book correspond to which version of the album you have, both versions come with a bookmark and a fold out photo card which are random, and both versions have different Cd designs. The first half of both versions follow the traditional styling seen in both the teaser images and the M/V for Shangri-La, while the 2nd half follows a more modern styling.

So far I only have the Birthstone version of the mini album, but I will at some point get the Birth Flower version also, as you can also see I have a signed copy and it's signed by Leo. I've never made it a secret that VIXX are my favourite male group and I feel proud and happy to be able to have 3 albums that are signed by members of the group, so far I have albums signed by N (Hades), Ravi (R.EAL1ZE) and Leo (Shangri-La), I'm lucky to be able to have access to purchase these signed albums. I love the concept for both the Shangri-La album and M/V, I love that they went for a more tradtional styling to fit with the title track as well as also showing their modern charm. VIXX have never failed to impress me whether it being their choreography, styling or music, even their albums are always aesthetically pleasing proving that they only ever want to put out the very best for them at that time. My favourite teaser to be released for this comeback was Hyuk's Birth Flower teaser image, but overall all the teaser images for their Birth Flowers were stunning, they looked more like art than just a photo. The tracks on Shangri-La fit well with the concept which just shows how beautiful the mini album really is. Ravi may be my VIXX bias but 2 of the members I always seem to have my eye on are Hyuk and N, Hyuk is really starting to shine with his vocals and I just love watching N dance. VIXX are a group that even though they are underrated never fail to surprise people whether they are a Starlight or not, there are groups that say that they don't expect to win music show trophies which for me seems more like making their fans guilty and making sure they get them those wins, one of my favourite groups have been guilty of this and personally for me I don't watch the M/V's, download the digital albums and buy physical copies because I want them to win such trophies, I do it because I love and enjoy the music and the group. If winning these trophies or awards makes them make better music then really they are only in the industry for the fame. A lot of the groups I listen to are classed as underrated groups like B.A.P, MONSTA X, VIXX and GOT7, they've proven that winning trophies is just a bonus of the industry they are in and has in no way affected the music they release, they are all groups that have some creative control in the music they release, where popular groups like EXO and Twice that win trophy after trophy, members names are rarely seen credited against songs on their albums. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy listening to both EXO and Twice, EXO were my 2nd K-pop group and I was really excited on hearing teasers for their upcoming comeback but my heart sunk when I saw their release date was the same as B.A.P's meaning all eyes would be on EXO and not B.A.P a group that always try and send a message with their music and try to give it meaning.
