Juvenile Justice tells the story of a judge who is known for her dislike of juveniles and gets appointed as a judge of a juvenile court. The courtroom drama sends a message of how society is also responsible for juvenile acts.
Shim Eun Seok, an elite judge with a cold and distant personality who is known for her dislike of juveniles is appointed judge of a juvenile court in the Yeonhwa District.
There, she breaks customs and administers her own ways of punishing the young offenders, Eun Seok has to deal with and balance her aversion to minor offenders with firm beliefs on justice and punishment as she tackles complex cases while discovering what being an adult truly means.
I can't remember why I decided to give this a watch, but I'm glad I did. I like drama's that are on the darker side as well as having an aspect of whodunit. For me as well this drama is one of those drama's that I can't help but get mad the more I watch.
There were moments in this drama that I found it hard to watch, especially with some of the cases, and especially finding out that they were based on real cases.
I loved Kim Hye Soo as Sim Eun Seok, as the series develops we come to see why she hates juveniles. The more I watched, the more I agreed with her with how the justice system needed to change when it came to juveniles. Even now, we tend to see juveniles reoffend, even if it's just coming into a shop and causing havoc. Because they know they can get away with it, and that there really isn't any punishment, they continue to cause that chaos.
I really liked Kim Mu Yeol as Cha Tae Joo, he's the good cop to Eun Seok's bad cop. He believes everyone deserves a second chance and believes even those who had committed heinous crimes, deserves to be rehabilitated and allowed to atone for what they've done.
I thought the whole cast were amazing, they really did an amazing job, bringing the characters and show to life. I was sad to know that a 2nd season was planned, but it ended up getting cancelled, as I would have loved to see what would happen next, especially with how season 1 concluded.
If you're a fan of legal drama's, as well as shows with dark concepts. Then I highly recommend Juvenile Justice. It's definitely a show that keeps you on your toes as well as takes you on an emotional journey.
