Reflection A Twisted Tale is a fantasy alternate story about Mulan written by Elizabeth Lim.
The book was published by Autumn Publishing in hardback on the 27th of March 2018 and paperback on the 21st of September 2018.

Elizabeth Lim was inspired to become a writer by the myths and fairy tales her father used to tell her as a child. Her passion for storytelling began around age 10, when she started writing fanfics for Sailor Moon, Sweet Valley, and Star Wars.
In addition to being an author, she is a Juilliard-trained composer, and has written the scores to several award-winning films and video games.

Reflection is part of the Official Disney Twisted Tales book series.

What if Mulan had to travel to the underworld?

When Captain Shang is mortally wounded in battle, Mulan must travel to the underworld, Diyu, in order to save him from certain death. But King Yama, the ruler of Diyu, is not willing to give Shang up easily.
With the help of Shang's great lion guardian ShiShi, Mulan must find Shang's spirit and leave by sunrise, or become King Yama's prisoner forever. Mulan, still disguised as the soldier Ping, wrestles with the decision whether or not to reveal her true identity to her closest friend.

Will Mulan be able to save Shang before it's too late?

This actually took me around a year and a half to complete, and I have no other reason why, other than I kept finding other books to read instead.
This is so easy to read, and I did enjoy it, it fits perfectly with the story of Mulan that we all love and know from the movie.
It dived a little more into the Chinese culture, in that we learnt more about ancestors, as well as the underworld and it's creatures.
While I did enjoy reading it, I don't think it's a book I would revisit again, but I would recommend it to people that enjoy Mulan as well as the Twisted Tales series.

Have you read Reflection?
