In 2018 we got to finally see Onew make his solo debut with his first mini album Voice, but this mini album came at a price. In November 2018, SM Entertainment announced that Onew would enlisting in the military, on the 22nd of November 2018, SM then announced that Onew would be the 4th member of SHINee to make a solo debut, and that he was planning to release his mini album ahead of his military enlistment that December. On the 28th of November, 2018, it was revealed that the album would be called Voice with the title track being named Blue.
On the 3rd of December 2018, the M/V teaser for Blue was released.

On the 5th of December 2018, the M/V for Blue was released, along with the physical and digital release of his debut mini album Voice.

Just 5 days later on the 10th of December 2018, Onew quietly enlisted into the military for his mandatory military enlistment.

Onew co-wrote the lyrics for 사랑이었을까 (Illusion) and he wrote the lyrics for 온유하게 해요 (Shine on You).

Voice peaked at No.2 on the Gaon Albums Chart, No.24 on the Oricon Albums Chart and No.8 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.
Gaon Sales:
69,023+
Oricon Sales:
10,237+
Giving the album a total of 79,260+ sales so far.

The M/V for Blue has so far gained 1,671,161 million views, with the views continuing to increase.

Voice is set out as a hardback book style album case and was released in 2 versions: Blue and White. Voice has the same layout and album design as Taemin's solo debut mini album Ace, Jonghyun's solo debut mini album Base and Key's solo debut full length album Face. The photo book's for both versions are exactly the same and the albums come with Cd, photo book and random photocard.

Track List:
Blue
거리마다 (Your Scent)
동네 (Under the Starlight)
어떤 사이 (Sign)
사랑이었을까 (Illusion)
온유하게 해요 (Shine on You)
또각또각 (Timepiece)

I have the white version of Voice, there was no way I would get the blue version as I wanted to keep all my SHINee solo debuts the same, as I also have the white versions for both Taemin's and Jonghyun's mini albums, I will be doing the same when I am eventually able to get Key's album. I was excited when it was announced that Onew would finally be making his solo debut, but I was also sad as we wouldn't get to see him promote it as it was a gift to his fans before he enlisted for his military service. I'm not normally one for liking albums full of ballads, as I'm normally someone that prefers a mixture of music on an album and more uptempo tracks, but Onew is my SHINee bias and his voice when he sings ballads is just pure honey. Whenever I listen to this album especially Blue I can either get tearful, or I'm sat silently sobbing, Onew has the power to reveal his emotions when he sings so that you yourself feel those emotions too. I think Voice and Onew are the perfect examples of there being no language barriers when it comes to music.

I hope Onew keeps well and safe while he's doing his military service, Key will be starting his military service in March along with VIXX' leader N and it's reported that Minho will also being starting his military service this year, meaning the only active member of SHINee will be Taemin, I'm kind of hoping that he will also start his military service this year so that we don't have to wait as long for SHINee to return and have a comeback.
