SHINee: Chapter 2 - Why So Serious: The Misconceptions Of Me

Hello
An nyeoung

This week I'd thought I'd continue Shinee's comeback in 2013 with their 2nd full length album, so shall we get going?

As I said in Misconceptions of You Shinee and SM Entertainment announced that with Shinee's comeback they would be doing it with 2 separate full length albums, with the excitement dying down from their Dream Girl album on the 22nd of April 2013 SM released the music video teaser for their new single Why So Serious.

The very next day on the 23rd SM then released a highlight medley video with snippets of each song teasing what each song entailed, increasing hype for their comeback.

Just 2 days later SM finally released the MV for Why So Serious, SM also announced that Jognhyun would not be taking part at the beginning of the track and album promotion due to a car accident from which he had been released from hospital and would be focusing on treatments until he was fully healed, he also didn't take part in the MV so the vocals were reworked for the track for promotions till he returned. This is one of my favourite MV's which shows Shinee's style from start to finish, as well as their amazing dance skills.

Fans didn't have to wait long for the album to be released as 4 days after the MV was released SM released the album both digitally and physically, again Shinee saw success with the album going in at No.1 in 3 countries: South Korea's Gaon Weekly & Monthly Album Charts, Taiwan's G-music Asia Chart and America's Billboard World Albums Chart. The physical sales stand at 131,438+ with South Korea's Gaon physical sales and 23,604+ copies with Japan's Oricon.

Jonghyun stated that this album had a darker and dreamier feel to it compared to Dream Girl, with the Misconceptions of You being aimed at the fans misconceptions of Shinee, I can't help but feel that this was telling fans the misconceptions they had within themselves, showing that they will always do their all to reach their goal. Members had an input with song lyrics again with this album with Jognhyun writing two of the tracks: 오르골(Orgel) & Dangerous(MedusaII) and Minho writing the raps for 4 tracks: Shine(MedusaI), 오르골(Orgel), Excuse Me Miss & 떠나지 못해(Sleepless Night)

This album is my favourite Shinee album, it was also the second Shinee album I bought and I bought it without knowing any of the tracks on it, it's strange how an album you heard nothing from can become your favourite from that group not only that but Shinee became my favourite male K-pop group. Each track on this album is just as amazing as the last. The album has the same layout as the first chapter of these albums but keeping with the concept it has dark and edgier images showing them more laid back looking sultry and masculine, this album also reminds me of their Married To The Music styling, for me this album not only showcases their vocal talents it also shows off what Shinee has always been known for their styling.

Track List:
Nightmare
Why So Serious?
SHINE (Medusa I)
오르골(Orgel)
Dangerous (Medusa II)
Like a Fire
Excuse Me Miss
Evil
떠나지 못해(Sleepless Night)

What I've noticed with Shinee is whether it's a group release or a solo activity they always have the ability to bring 100% and take down more barriers that are in their way, they also always have the power to constantly reinvent themselves while still keeping their feet on the ground. It was EXTREMELY hard to choose only a few of the tracks from this album but here are the ones I NEVER get bored of and highly recommend for first time listeners of this group.
