BTS: Wings Extenstion - You Never Walk Alone

Hello
Annyeong
Konnichiwa
Ni Hao

Back in February I shared with you, personally for me one of the best albums to be released in 2016, not only was it one of the best albums, it's still the only album from a Korean artist to officially enter the UK album Charts, if you're a BTS fan then you know I'm talking about Wings, well back in February they released an extension to their Wings album.

You Never Walk Alone is an extension to BTS' Wings album, on the 9th of February an M/V Teaser was released for title track Spring Day.

The next day on the 10th of February another M/V Teaser was released this time for another new track titled Not Today.

On the 13th of February (12th in the UK) the M/V for Spring Day was released along with the digital and physical release of You Never Walk Alone.

Spring Day saw a bit of a backlash from ARMY to Big Hit for it's line distribution for the track, with J-Hope only appearing as background vocals throughout the song and Jin's very limited lines, a similar backlash was seen with the Not Today M/V, this time for the lack or should I say non-existent screen time for visual Jin, Big Hit listened to fans and came through for them when the live stage of Spring Day was performed giving Jin a hell of a lot more lines as well as J-Hope opening the track. On the 20th of February (19th in the UK) the M/V for Not Today was released (check out Jin's seconds of solo screen time).

On the 26th of February the Not Today Choreography M/V was released.

Pre-orders for You Never Walk Alone, which contains 4 extra tracks reached over 700,00 copies, title track Spring Day achieved an all-kill on 8 of the major South Korean online music charts, crashing the Melon Digital Chart upon it's initial release due to traffic overload. Spring Day entered Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart at No.15, a writer from Billboard magazine highlighted that the achievement as a single "almost all in Korean and had zero promotions in America". Within 24 hours the Spring Day M/V reached over 9 million views, breaking the record made by their previous track 피 땀 눈물 (Blood, Sweat & Tears), that record was then broken again when the Not Today M/V was released, gaining over 10 million views in the same amount of time. Spring Day became the fastest K-Pop group M/V to reach 20 million views in less than 4 days, which Not Today then bested by reaching 20 million views within less than 3 days.

Rap Monster helped to co-write on all 4 of the new tracks including title track Spring Day, with J-Hope and Suga helping to co-write Outro! Wings and A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone, Suga along with Jin also helped to co-write title track Spring Day.

Spring Day won a total of 4 music show trophies, winning 1 on Show Champion, 1 on M! Countdown, 1 on Music Bank and 1 on Inkigayo.
You Never Walk Alone peaked at No.1 on the Gaon Albums Chart, No.7 on the Oricon Albums Chart and No.1 on Billboard's World Albums Chart.
Gaon Sales:
723,855+
Oricon Sales:
51,885+
Chinese Sales:
267,925+
Selling a total of 802,532+ copies.
At the time of writing this post the Spring Day M/V has gained 92,343,065 million views through the official Big Hit YouTube channel and Not Today gaining 107,739,034 million views, with the views for both M/V's increasing at a high rate everyday.

You Never Walk Alone was released in 2 different versions, a left and a right version, the left version being a mint green colour and the right version being a pink colour. Both versions are different, with different pictures, Cd designs and covers. The only thing that is the same with both versions is the track list and possibly a group card standee, which I will know if it comes with every album when my 2nd version arrives, both versions also come with a random photo card.

A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone

I have the Left version and I also have the Right version on the way, I think my heart skipped a beat when the teaser images were released for You Never Walk Alone as it reminded me why Min Yoongi (Suga) is my bias, everything for this comeback was just breathtaking from the tracks, pictures to the stunning and aesthetically pleasing M/V's, whenever I have any low days now I put on this album and head to Not Today and A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone as my fight songs. The choreography from Spring Day is also aesthetically pleasing something that so far only one other group has had me from start to finish just watching in awe of the beauty of their choreography. I love the colour for the Left version it's gorgeous which is why that was the version I bought first, this may also sound strange too but I love the pages in this album, they're so thin, silky and smell really nice (odd I know), I love the whole layout of the album, again like Wings this is an album I'd recommend to non BTS fans or non K-Pop fans, I can't think of better role models for Skye and for other young kids, there's no better inspiration than continuing to fight and follow your dreams no matter how many times people put you down.
All the underdogs in the world
A day may come when we lose
But it is not today
Today we fight!

I think you're missing something if you don't think both Wings and the You Never Walk Alone Extension aren't amazing albums, it still sits at the top of my list as one of the best albums of 2016 as well as one of the best albums to be released.

What did you think to the new tracks?
