Cook restaurant quality meals!
Each box comes with 4 recipe kits and 4 step-by-step recipe cards.
Following the recipes, you combine the kits with 4-6 items from your fridge or cupboard.
Then in just 20 minutes you'll be enjoying a delicious meal for 2-4 people.
First from this box I cooked the Chickpea Kofta Flatbreads. In this kit you get Kofta Seasoning, Pomegranate Molasses and Cacik Paste.
Heat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/ Gas Mark 6.
Season and shape the koftas.
Bake the koftas.
Prepare the breads and sides.
Serve!
We've never had koftas before and these were pretty easy and simple to make, while I thought the flavours worked well together, for me they were a little dry. The yoghurt really helped and added flavour. If I made these again I'd definitely add the chopped parsley to see if it adds to the flavour. This dish can easily be made vegan by using vegan yogurt.
Next from this box I cooked the Mushroom & Pea Risotto. In this kit you get Porcini Crumb, Risotto Stock and White Wine Reduction.
Heat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas Mark 6 and boil a full kettle.
Prep the crumb and mushrooms.
Make the risotto.
Finishing touches.
Serve!
I always enjoy when we have risotto, so I was happy to give this dish a try. I thought all the flavours worked really well together, I just wasn't a fan of the peas. The main time consuming part of the cooking is the risotto itself but it's still an easy dish to make.
Like the previous dish, this dish can also be made vegan.
Next from this box I cooked the Mushroom Stroganoff. In this kit you get Stroganoff Seasoning, Mushroom Stock and Horseradish Seasoning.
Boil the potatoes in a pan of water and cook until tender while you get started.
Start the stroganoff.
Create the sauce.
Make the mash.
Serve!
Skye really isn't a fan of mushrooms, so she doesn't tend to even attempt, but she did give this a go but wasn't a fan. I on the other hand thought it was really nice and thought all the flavours worked really well together.
I'm not a big fan of horseradish and knew Skye wouldn't be either, so we kept the mash plain and it still worked really well together. We have tried it with the horseradish before and it was a big no for us.
Last from this box I cooked the Burrito Bowl. In this kit you get Burrito Spice Blend, Frijoles Paste and Mexican Rice Sauce.
This is the 2nd time we've tried this dish, the first being with chicken. Sadly, even this vegan version wasn't for us. We weren't a fan of the flavours, but I do love how colourful this dish is.
Now let me get to the business side of the Simply Cook boxes, each box comes with 4 recipe kits which include 3 pots of sauces, herb, stock etc, as well as 4 step-by-step recipe cards, that contain the full list of ingredients you'll need, and alternatives etc.
